Service Record | Cadet Johnson arrived at Starfleet Academy on Earth. Upon arriving, he formed in with the other cadets outside the main building. They all came to attention when an officer yelled 'ATTENTION!'. A senior officer arrived 5 minutes later and reviewed the cadets. When the officer found something with a cadet, the officer turned to his aide and said something. This happened several times while the officer reviewed the cadets. Finally, when the review was finished, the senior officer moved to in front of the group. His aide yelled 'AT EASE!' The senior officer, who turned out to be the Commandant of the Academy. He looked at his tricorder, and said, "The following people will remain here, while the rest will follow this Ensign," he pointed to a female ensign standing next to him, "where you will start your Academy processing." He started giving names of cadets. 10 minutes later, he stopped. "Anyone not hearing their name, fall out." Cadet Johnson stepped out of line and followed the group who were following the ensign. Once inside they were directed to head to where they would line up and speak to officers manning desks. Johnson got in line behind the others and waited his turn. The cadets still outside? They had failed the inspection for either a major or minor infraction. They had to stand there while the senior officer instructed them in the proper appearance of a cadet at the academy and if they failed an inspection again in the first semester, they wouldn't be around for the second semester. Back inside, Johnson stood in front of the desk while the officer behind the desk checked his file. When he was finished, Johnson was instructed to report to medical for his physical. Once that was done, he was to report for his Psych eval. When that was finished, he had a counseling session. Finally, he was able to report to register for which classes h wanted. He chooses command and security, as his majors and starship operations as his minor. Next it was room assignments. When he found his room he found out that he was sharing a room with a Andorian. They introduced themselves. The next morning, classes started. The classes were hard, of course they were, this was Starfleet Academy. Only the best of the best graduated from here. Seemed like the first semester came and went. One day he'd see someone, the next day they were gone. That was life in the Academy. He usually scored in the top 5% of the class in all his exams. Most nights he and his roommate would coach each other. End of the first semester, he was in the top 8% of his class. Second semester was much of the same. Except, he had a new roommate, a Vulcan. The classes got harder; the exams were harder. Seemed more people were dropping out or asked to leave for a reason. End of the second semester, he was in the top 6% of his class. He took 2 weeks to visit his family of SB1. When the commander of the station heard he was coming back, she was waiting for him. "You may be on leave, cadet, but you will still be working while you are here. After all, the base is counting on you to set an example for everyone." When he got back, his Vulcan roommate had requested a new roommate. So, for the time being, he had a private room. The third semester started. The courses and tests got harder. In the evenings, he relished the quiet of his room. This semester included weapons and self-defense courses. Johnson's build made the defense courses easier. End of the semester, he was rated was "Very good" in self-defense and "Sharpshooter rating" in weapons. He was in the top 3% of his class. Senior year, this was it! You either gave it your all or you admitted defeat. Johnson gave it his all. Halfway through the senior year, the top cadets were allowed to serve aboard starships as part of their training. He was assigned to the USS Yorktown, and he started his rotation in security. The security chief said he was joining to put his trainees through the wringer. 0600: report for calisthenics. 0800: weapons training. 1000: 15 minute break. 1016: training with a security officer on a one on one basis. 1200: lunch. 1230: shadow an officer on duty. 1400: write a log. 1500: dinner. The next day, Cadet Johnson was assigned an away mission duty. He was instructed to follow his instructor's commands. He was told that by his instructor that the senior officers of the away team were his priority, that they were to be protected at the cost of his own life, if necessary. Needless to say, it didn't come to that. Based on his Academy records, the following day he assigned to the bridge at the security console, behind the captain's chair. He was now in charge of shields and weapons, and he was told to expect anything. Midway through the shift, an unidentified ship attacked the Yorktown. "Raise shields and arm weapons!" came the captains orders. "Shields raised, all weapons hot!" came Johnson's reply. The unidentified ship started another attack run. Johnson watched his console with an occasional glance to the viewscreen. The enemy fired their weapons, with struck the ship's shields. "Return fire!" Ordered the captain. Johnson fired the phasers and let loose a volley of torpedoes. The phasers and torpedoes struck the shields of the enemy ship, damaging it. The enemy ship broke off combat and slipped away. Johnson waited for the order to fire of the retreating ship, but the captain ordered the ship from Red Alert to Yellow Alert. With that, the simulation ended. Johnson didn't know it was a simulation. The captain walked over to Johnson. "Good job, cadet." Johnson had to write a log about the test. Cadet Johnson returned to the Academy. Graduating day. Cadet Johnson graduated 3rd in his class, just missing out 1st. Ensign Johnson was assigned to USS Dakota as a security officer. In his 6 month evaluation, he was promoted to Lieutenant. A year later, he was reassigned to USS Potamic as the Assistant Security Chief. Two years later, he was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and reassigned to the USS Titan as Security Chief. Three years later, he was assigned to the USS Intrepid as it's First Officer with the rank of commander. |
